Masonry is in our DNA. Nearly 200 years ago our great great-grandfather, a mason, immigrated to Australia prior to his descendant’s settling in New Zealand some fifty years later. His best known work remains the Governor’s house in Albany, Western Australia that he built in 1836. Sir Richard Spencer commissioned him to construct the house out of rough quarry granite on Strawberry Hill for a sum of £100. After its completion Sir George Grey (the first Governor General of New Zealand) and Charles Darwin were occasional house guests. The Governor’s house is still standing after 180 years, and is now a heritage home on the oldest farm in Western Australia, now administered by the National Trust.

At Masonry Homes, we have a modest 30 years of experience in design and construction. We take pride in our heritage as well as the design and finished quality of current projects and the projects that we have been involved in over the years.
Masonry Homes provides personalised design service to create your new home or development, managing the process from start to finish, including design feasibility, concept, and developed designs, plus documentation for building and resource consents. We can select and appoint contractors or can work with your preferred contractor. We can administer and observe the construction project through to completion and hand-over.
We are team players and lateral thinkers capable of negotiating quality design solutions within reasonable design constraints. There is always more than one solution to a design problem, and we are happy to work alongside you to create the most successful outcome.
